Surviving The Storm

What a year (well, more than a year) we are having! Between the pandemic and last weeks winter deluge, we are getting our butts kicked quite frankly. Life events like these can easily sidetrack a fitness routine, if not take it out of commission entirely, We need to be diligent about getting ourselves back on track and back into fitness. Heck, I’ve been 100% guilty lately of lacking motivation to do anything at all, much less a full workout. I catch myself getting some stretches in and calling it good for the day. I know that isn’t good enough. I know I have to do better. We could all probably do better in one way or another. Our fitness. Our relationships. Our promotional test studying. Our relationship with God. Whatever it is that you’ve been slacking on during this craziness we call life.
Motivation. How can we get ourselves motivated after a bout with slacker-ism? Especially after this absolutely ridiculous last 12 months or so. Start small. Cut the norm in half, hell cut it 75%. Just do something! Jump off the recliner or couch and hit 10 pushups and 30 seconds of a plank a few times a day. Take the stairs at work. Get a standing desk. Whatever you do, do something to get started. Just make sure you strive for improvements. Tell yourself you’ll be better tomorrow than you were today and stick to it. You will probably be shocked at the improvements you’ll make.
Just tell yourself daily that you will survive this storm, because that is all it is. Like all storms, it is temporary. It will pass and there will be brighter skies ahead. All we have to do is survive the storm.
